Who We Are and What We Do

OUR KEY PROJECT: Sofia House, Islamabad, Pakistan

Our key project, Sofia House opened on 21st April 2009 and is a home for female orphans in Islamabad. The Girls in Sofia house live in a family environment and in addition to being provided with food, shelter & education, are being nurtured in a loving and supportive environment.

There are sixteen girls currently residing at Sofia House which is headed up by Sobia, who is assisted by a very caring and committed team. The girls were very happy to have their pictures taken to be put on the website so that everyone can see what a huge difference your support is making to their lives.

The MMCP team

Nina Ali Founder & Trustee:  I am a British Pakistani lawyer, currently working at Hodge, Jones and Allen in London. A while ago I decided that I wanted to do whatever I could do to improve the quality of children’s lives – Millie Mittoo Children’s Projects is what I came up with. In a world where many live in abject poverty I am fortunate enough to be materially comfortable. I can do something and so I will! I raised start-up capital for MMCP from the re-mortgaging of my only asset, my flat in London. I am making a start and hope that with your help MMCP will grow and go on to embrace many more projects in the future. Sofia House opened in April 2009, and will hopefully be the first of many.

Tanveer Gilani * Trustee: A solicitor by profession, I am currently a full-time mother of two adorable young girls. I am delighted to be a trustee of an organisation whose purpose is so close to my own heart and look forward to being actively involved in changing children’s lives in a positive and real way.

Bree Knight * Admin Assistant: Hi. I am a legal secretary and also work with Nina in her “day job”.  I was so impressed with the work and ideology of Millie Mittoo Children’s Projects that I wanted to get involved and help in any way that I could. Nina and the team are doing amazing work so please help support MMCP so that they may long continue
